The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanics to join our growing team in Sydney, Australia.

This position is specifically for commercial road transport mechanics.

Applicants whose experience is primarily in mining equipment, earthmoving machinery, agricultural machinery or mobile plant will generally not be suitable unless they can demonstrate substantial commercial heavy vehicle experience.

Successful applicants will work on a wide variety of commercial heavy vehicles, including:

• Trucks

• Trailers
• Buses
• Commercial Fleet Vehicles

Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be responsible for:

• Diagnosing heavy commercial vehicle faults
• Performing servicing and preventative maintenance
• Repairing diesel engines
• Diagnosing and repairing manual and automatic transmissions
• Repairing differentials and driveline components
• Replacing and repairing clutches
• Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems
• Diagnosing and repairing steering and suspension systems
• Diagnosing and repairing air brake systems
• Diagnosing and repairing ABS and Electronic Braking Systems (EBS)
• Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults using modern diagnostic equipment
• Carrying out heavy vehicle inspections
• Completing accurate job cards and inspection reports
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and housekeeping
• Working independently while also contributing effectively within a professional workshop team
• Participating in mobile field service and emergency breakdown repairs where required

Essential Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate genuine heavy commercial vehicle mechanical experience.

Applicants must provide:

• Minimum five (5) years verifiable heavy commercial vehicle mechanical experience
• Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Employer references covering the previous five years
• Payslips covering the previous five years
• FNPF contribution statements covering the previous five years
• Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle, Diesel or Automotive Mechanical Technology (preferred)
• Current passport
• Current driver’s licence
• Valid Group 6 Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence (or equivalent)
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to successfully complete a practical mechanical trade assessment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team
• High standard of workmanship
