The Bricklayer will be responsible for constructing brickwork for a building. The Bricklayer must be able to read and analyze building plans, check specifications, determine the most accurate layout, and mark guidelines. You should also be able to mix mortar powder, sand, clay, and water correctly to obtain an acceptable consistency.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, or other mansory units in patterns to construct walls, buildings or other structures
- Align bricks or blocks using levels, squares, or plumb lines.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and specifications to understand project requirements
- Mix mortar or grout according to standard formulas.
- Cut or saw bricks and concrete blocks to specified sizes using hand tools or masonry saws.
- Inspect work to ensure that it meets construction standards and specifications.
- Repair any defective masonry work as needed.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment
Preferred Skills
- Minimum 1 year industry experience on a construction site.
- Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in bricklaying and the construction of buildings.
- Proficient in laying bricks and other mansory units with precision.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of different types of bricks, blocks, and mortars.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or Completion of courses/certifications in the construction sector.
